As an adult
volunteer or professional delivering council wide leadership training to
youth, you have accepted a special opportunity. The opportunity to
inspire, teach and enhance the lives of the future leaders in our
country with the National Youth Leader Training course. The
Northeast Region Youth Leader Training team offers several programs to
assist and support you in this awesome responsibility.
Alpine Conference Program for
Adults
The
Alpine Conference program for
adults is designed to provide the knowledge, assistance and
networking adults need to deliver a world-class NYLT program in your
council.
Alpine Conference Program for
Youth
The Alpine
Conference program for youth is designed for SPL's and ASPL's
of your council NYLT. These outstanding youth have often already
attended YSDC and will be your top youth leaders. At the
conference they will meet with top youth leaders from other councils on
how to deliver the NYLT course.
To me this camp (YSDC) is more than just a training course for staff
of NYLT courses. I feel this has been a life altering course. A
week ago I would have trembled at the thought of making a
presentation. Now I believe I can make them with confidence. I
want to take this back to not only my NYLT, but to my troop.

YSDC Program for Youth
The YSDC Program
for youth is designed for all your NYLT youth staff. It teaches
all your youth staff how to be outstanding presenters, evaluators and
model leaders. YSDC also teaches in-depth understanding of the key
NYLT leadership models. NYLT youth staff usually attend YSDC very
early in their NYLT staffing tenure. Some councils send youth
before they may serve as staff, while other councils send youth after
they have successfully staffed NYLT. Many councils require youth
to successfully attend YSDC to be considered for top youth staff
positions.
YSDC Program for Adults
The YSDC program for adults is designed for NYLT adult volunteers to
visit YSDC while their youth are attending. The week your youth
are attending you are invited to arrive Thursday for dinner and stay
through the closing Saturday morning. You will observe the YSDC
process and participate in some activities. The YSDC adult staff
will facilitate a team meeting with the all the youth and adults from
your council. This program is not for parents, only NYLT adult
staff who want to improve their council leadership training to the
highest levels.
This course
helped me realize how much better my home NYLT could be. I am going
to be SPL next year and I believe the YSDC nightly Problem Solving
Panels have been a great help in understanding the NYLT further. I
feel the Northeast Region has put on an excellent program for NYLT
staffers.
